MIDDLESEX DELIVERS COACHING COURSE IN SWAMINARAYAN TEMPLE IN KINGSBURY

MIDDLESEX CRICKET DELIVERS GROUNDBREAKING COACHING COURSE IN SWAMINARAYAN TEMPLE IN KINGSBURY

Following the successful delivery of an ECB Core Coach course last year at the Jamia Masjid in Hounslow, Middlesex Cricket continued to break new ground in its communities across the county recently, when delivering an ECB Foundation course over two weekends at the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir - a Hindu Temple in the heart of the borough of Brent.

The Temple serves members of the local Kingsbury Hindu community and houses a number of sports clubs, including Swamibapa Cricket Club, who compete in Division Five of the Middlesex County Cricket League.

The Mandir were excellent hosts as Middlesex delivered the recent coaching course in January, with the two dates providing Middlesex Cricket with a perfect platform to engage with members of the local Hindu community, with eleven candidates on the Level One course taking their first steps towards becoming qualified cricket coaches.

Of the eleven coaches on the course, five came from one of Middlesex Cricket’s other core city hubs, Shree Kutch Level Patel Community Cricket Club, with the remaining six coming from Swamibapa Cricket Club itself.

With nine of the eleven coaches successfully passing the course, the Club verymuch looks forward to following their journeys as qualified coaches, as they look to inspire the next generation of youngsters in their community to take up the game of cricket.

The course was delivered by Middlesex’s Participation Manager, Raj Nath, who is himself a Hindi speaking Hindu, which helped to provide important communication assistance to those participants on the course whose first language was not English.

Speaking of what was a hugely successful coaching course, Kari Carswell, Middlesex Cricket’s Participation Director, commented:

“We express our gratitude to the wonderful people of the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir for their hospitality in hosting our two course dates in January.

“Being able to deliver our programmes in the heart of communities around the county is key to us engaging with the many diverse communities that Middlesex comprises.

“The course at the Mandir was a huge success, conducted in a brilliant sports facility, which we will most definitely be returning to for future activities.

“Our thanks go to all involved and congratulations to all those who successfully passed the course. We look forward to seeing you out on cricket squares across Middlesex in the coming seasons.”
