MIDDLESEX LEAGUE CRICKET | 2025 SEASON PREVIEW

MIDDLESEX LEAGUE CRICKET | 2025 SEASON PREVIEW

After seven months of relative quiet, the club league season in Middlesex begins in earnest this weekend – 10 and 11 May 2025 – with the first round of matches in Middlesex’s three primary leagues taking place. Two of these leagues - the Middlesex County Cricket League (MCCL) and the Middlesex Premier Cricket League (MPCL) – are men’s/open leagues and the third is our women’s league – the Middlesex Women’s Cricket League (MWCL).

The Middlesex Women’s Cricket League begins on Sunday but Ickenham, last years winners, will not be defending their title. Having won the MWCL in 2024 Ickenham had the option to move to play in the Women’s Southern Premier League, which they took. Along with competitive hard ball league cricket, there will also be a number of softball events taking place, the first of which is at Shepherds Bush CC on Sunday.

In September 2024 the MCCL, Middlesex’s premier Saturday league, reached one of its most thrilling conclusions on the final day of the season when Ealing defeated North Middlesex by five wickets to clinch their 12th Premier League title.

On Saturday the 2025 version of the MCCL begins with 72 clubs looking forward to an enjoyable and successful summer. In the three tiers of cricket being played in the MCCL (1st XI, 2nd XI and 3rd Tier) 243 teams will start to compete with each other. Ealing, who finished top of the tree in 2025, start the defence of their title with a home fixture against Richmond.

In 2024 West Harrow walked away as winners of the MPCL, which is Middlesex’s premier Sunday league. The MPCL hosts six divisions with 48 teams taking part. As with the MCCL the league season will reach its conclusion in the first weekend of September. West Harrow begin the defence of their title with a home game against South Harrow.

Everybody at Middlesex in the Community (MITC) wishes all those who take part in these two leagues an enjoyable and fulfilling summer. We look forward to seeing the team results and individual performances come in.

A final note from everyone at MITC is that, whilst we want the cricket played to be competitive and meaningful, we also want behaviours to be good and respectful. Cricket is a game for everyone and we want everyone to enjoy the experience of playing and being involved in the fantastic game.

Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you on the circuit and hearing about your great performances.
