NORTH LONDON CRICKET CLUB GET SET FOR 2025 SEASON

NORTH LONDON CRICKET CLUB GET SET FOR 2025 SEASON

The work that goes in to preparing a club and their ground for the season is one of the most important tasks in the club calendar. This year, Middlesex in the Community in collaboration with the ECB hosted a Get Set Weekend showcase at North London Cricket Club, where countless volunteers alongside staff from MITC and the ECB rolled up their sleeves and got to work, preparing for another fantastic season of cricket.

With the club preparing two grounds, the volunteer workforce were split up with roles assigned. Some of the tasks on the day included repainting the pavilion, cleaning the sight screens, clearing the nets and jet washing canopies. Orange flowers were also planted around the ground in memory of Martin Issitt, North London CC’s late Chair and former Chair of the Middlesex Junior Cricket Association, who gave so much to both NLCC and cricket in Middlesex.

Over 100 clubs and thousands of volunteers across the county participated in Get Set Weekend, an ECB initiative targeted at inspiring people to get involved with volunteering, and become part of the Cricket Collective.

Jack Davis, Middlesex in the Community's Assistant Partnership Manager (Clubs, Leagues and Cricket Collective) commented:

“It was special to be part of such a productive day, and work alongside so many inspiring volunteers at NLCC who give up so much time to make cricket happen. Hearing about the efforts that volunteers put in across the county reminds us just how special recreational cricket is, and how much it means to people. Our clubs are community hubs, and there is so much more to them than solely what happens on the pitch. To see so many young people give up a Saturday morning to volunteer was so pleasing, and we look forward to recognising some of our incredible volunteers at the Cricket Collective Awards at the end of the season.”
