Middlesex Women are back in action tomorrow in the opening round of the Vitality T20 Women’s County Cup, when we'll take on Kent at Radlett Cricket Club.
Head Coach, Marc Broom, has named a squad of 13 for the contest, featuring two changes from yesterday’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup victory over Northamptonshire Steelbacks, with Gayatri Gole and Sonali Patel returning to the line-up.
The Vitality T20 Women’s County Cup is a brand-new knockout competition, bringing together all 37 teams across the three tiers of the women’s domestic structure, all building towards an exciting finals day in Taunton at the end of the month. Should Middlesex defeat Kent tomorrow, they will face either Cornwall or Berkshire in the next round on Saturday 10th May.
It’s only been a couple of weeks since Middlesex and Kent met in the opening match of the Metro Bank One-Day Cup, where Middlesex secured a commanding eight-wicket victory at Radlett. Kent were dismissed for 66 in 20.4 overs, thanks to a sensational bowling display led by Gaya Gole, who claimed 6/30 – equalling her best-ever figures for Middlesex.
Since then, Kent have had mixed fortunes. They bounced back with a nine-wicket win over Derbyshire Falcons before falling to Leicestershire Foxes by seven wickets yesterday.
Middlesex, on the other hand, remain unbeaten this season, having followed up their dominant win over Kent with a hard-fought 11-run victory over Glamorgan and a four-wicket triumph against Northamptonshire Steelbacks yesterday.
Tomorrow’s fixture, however, will be their first T20 outing, with their 20-over credentials yet to be tested.
The Middlesex squad for the clash is as follows:
Play gets underway at 14:30 at Radlett, and it would be amazing to see as many members and supporters as possible there to cheer the girls on against Kent on what promises to be a delightful Bank Holiday afternoon.
