SQUAD & PREVIEW | NORTHAMPTONSHIRE STEELBACKS WOMEN V MIDDLESEX WOMEN | METRO BANK ONE-DAY CUP

MIDDLESEX WOMEN NAME SQUAD OF 12 FOR METRO BANK ONE-DAY CUP CLASH WITH NORTHAMPTONSHIRE STEELBACKS AT THE COUNTY GROUND

Middlesex Women are back on the road this weekend as they travel to the East Midlands to face Northamptonshire Steelbacks at the County Ground in their third Metro Bank One-Day Cup clash.

Head Coach, Marc Broom, has named a squad of 12 for the contest, with the group looking to continue their unbeaten run after a perfect start to life in Tier Two.

Tomorrow’s squad features four changes from last week, with Artemis Downer, Sarah Pearson, Anisha Dissanayake, and Anaya Patel coming into the side, replacing Rachana Cambampaty, Hannah Davis, Gayatri Gole, and Sonali Patel. It’s a first squad appearance of the season for Downer, Pearson, and Patel – the latter currently competing at Under 14 level in Middlesex Girls' Pathway.

We head into Saturday’s game full of confidence after a thrilling 11-run triumph over Glamorgan at Newport last weekend – a result that made it two from two to kick off our Metro Bank One-Day Cup campaign.

Finty Trussler led the charge with the bat, scoring her first half-century of the season with a commanding 66. Backed up by Pippa Sproul’s 45, Riva Pindoria’s 32, and a lively late contribution from Katie Wolfe, we posted a formidable 289 all out – the joint-highest total across both tiers of the competition so far.

With the ball, it was another team effort – the wickets shared between Sonali Patel, Katie Wolfe, Hannah Davis, Saskia Horley, and Issy Routledge. As Glamorgan’s chase gathered momentum, we held our nerve in the closing stages, with a dramatic final over run out sealing the win and keeping our unbeaten record intact.

Next up, we face another test in the form of Northamptonshire – one of just two other teams to also start the season with two wins from two. The Steelbacks saw off Leicestershire in their opener before claiming a 34-run victory over Gloucestershire last weekend – a result driven by Michaela Kirk’s 88 and Amelia Kemp’s 4/29.

The Middlesex squad set to face them is as follows:
