MITC HOST SUCCESSFUL GOLF DAY AT BATCHWORTH PARK GC

MITC HOST SUCCESSFUL GOLF DAY AT BATCHWORTH PARK GC

Middlesex in the Community held its second annual golf day at Batchworth Golf Club, Rickmansworth on Tuesday 10 June 2025. The competition, which involved 18 four-ball teams, went exceptionally well with everyone seeming to enjoy the occasion.

On a warm, overcast and, thankfully, dry morning scoring was high, with a number of players amassing over 40 stableford points. With the scores of three players on each hole counting towards the team total, the winning team total was high too.

The day was well supported by former and current Middlesex players. Along with myself (Angus Fraser), Harry Latchman, John Emburey, Nigel Ross, Tim Murtagh, Gurjit Sandhu, Mark Ramprakash, Sam Robson and Steven Finn all enjoyed playing the course. Robson and Finn also took part in a light-hearted Q&A session with me after lunch.

Off the course the day was successful too. The generosity of those playing, through entering a team, joining the raffle or purchasing an auction prize helped Middlesex in the Community raise over £7,000. This money will be used by MITC to support a number of the great projects and programmes it runs. These include supporting the playing of cricket in underserved areas of our community, for young people with disabilities and the work we do in promoting women’s and girls’ cricket.

The golf started at 9.15 after all the entrants had enjoyed a coffee and a breakfast roll. The course was in excellent condition, with each of the four par threes having a nearest the pin prize. As mentioned earlier, scoring was high and the team I was in felt it had a chance of being a contender.

Those hopes were dashed as the scores came in and the 115 points we scored was quickly overtaken.

The top three teams were –

3rd Place - William Sturges with 120 points;

2nd Place – The Ark Group with 121 points.

Winners – a team that christened themselves as the ‘No Hopers’, who came in with a brilliant 135 points.

Their golf may have been brilliant but the prize for the Highest Individual Stableford Score of the day did not go to a ‘No Hoper’. The prize went to Robert Talbot from the 3rd placed William Sturges.

The Nearest the Pin prizes went to

4th Hole – Nick Brown

6th Hole – Matt Pryce

12th Hole – Jack Davis

15th Hole – Mark Ramprakash

Finally, on behalf of Middlesex in the Community, I would like to thank Batchworth Golf Club for making their excellent facilities available to us. The course, the setting, the food and the way we were looked after was excellent – many thanks.

I would also like to thank Lisa White, Hannah Fleming, Charly Bruder and Raj Nath from MITC for their help in making the day run as well as it did.

And lastly, I would just like to thank all those that took teams and played in the day. Thanks for all your support and we hope to say all next year, if not before.

If you would like to be involved in 2026, or in any of MITC’s many activities, please contact Angus Fraser at [email protected]
