SQUAD & PREVIEW | GLAMORGAN WOMEN V MIDDLESEX WOMEN | VITALITY BLAST

MIDDLESEX WOMEN NAME SQUAD OF 13 FOR VITALITY BLAST CLASH WITH GLAMORGAN AT COLWYN BAY CRICKET CLUB

Middlesex Women are on the road this weekend as they travel to Colwyn Bay to face Glamorgan, aiming to make it four wins from four in the Vitality Blast.

Head Coach, Marc Broom, has named a squad of 13 for the trip to Wales, with two changes from the side that overcame Kent last weekend. Hannah Davis and Sarah Pearson return to the fold, replacing Sonali Patel and Lauren Turner.

Middlesex head into the clash unbeaten in the competition and top of the Tier Two South table, with three wins from three and 13 points to their name.

Last time out, they secured an 18-run victory over Kent at Radlett. After a testing start with the bat, a composed fifth-wicket stand between Saskia Horley and Pippa Sproul turned the innings around. The pair brought up their 50-run partnership in just 40 balls, helping Middlesex post a competitive 140/8. Horley led from the front with a superb 63 off 45 balls – her first half-century of the season. Both she and Sproul will be looking to carry that form into tomorrow’s contest.

With the ball, Middlesex once again showed patience and discipline, restricting Kent to 122/6. Horley capped off a fine all-round performance with figures of 2/23 from her four overs.

Glamorgan, meanwhile, currently sit second in the standings with one win and one loss from their opening two games. Their defeat came at the hands of Middlesex just a couple of weeks ago at Merchant Taylors’ School, in what remains Middlesex’s tightest contest of the season. In a tense, low-scoring affair, Horley struck the winning boundary off the penultimate delivery to seal a nail-biting four-wicket victory.

It was similarly tight when the sides met in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup earlier this season. Middlesex edged that one too, by 11 runs, with the final wicket falling in the last over.

In their most recent outing, Glamorgan defeated Sussex Sharks by five runs. Batting first, they reached 133/8, thanks to 42 apiece from Daisy Jeanes and Bethan Gammon. Poppy Walker was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4/32 to help seal the win in another match that went down to the wire.
