SQUAD & PREVIEW | MIDDLESEX WOMEN V GLOUCESTERSHIRE | VITALITY BLAST

MIDDLESEX WOMEN NAME SQUAD OF 13 FOR VITALITY BLAST CLASH WITH GLOUCESTERSHIRE AT RADLETT CRICKET CLUB

Middlesex Women return to Radlett tomorrow for one final time this season, as they take on Gloucestershire in the Vitality Blast.

Head Coach, Marc Broom, has named a squad of 13 for the encounter, with three changes from last week’s trip to Colwyn Bay. Anaya Patel and Sonali Patel return, while Olivia Kibler comes in to take the gloves for her first Blast appearance.

Middlesex come into the fixture sitting top of the Tier Two South table, with three wins from four, and will be aiming to bounce back after their first defeat of the campaign, with Glamorgan claiming a 30-run victory last Sunday.

Glamorgan were aggressive with the bat, racing to 49 without loss in the powerplay. Sarah Pearson made the breakthrough, removing opener, Daisy Jeanes, for 53, caught by Saskia Horley, and finished with figures of 2/35. Rachana Cambampaty and Anisha Dissanayake also picked up a wicket each, while Issy Routledge was the most economical, conceding 27 from her four overs. Glamorgan eventually closed on 171/4.

In reply, a determined chase led by Horley and Georgia Irving saw Middlesex post 141/9 – their highest Blast total so far. Horley recorded her second consecutive half-century, scoring 50, while Irving added an excellent 33 off just 20 balls.

There are plenty of positives to take into tomorrow’s clash, which not only marks our final home fixture in the Vitality Blast, but also our last appearance at Radlett this season.

We last met Gloucestershire at Radlett in the Metro Bank One-Day Cup, when Middlesex secured a comprehensive 208-run victory. Finty Trussler and Artemis Downer both scored centuries, and shared a record-equalling List A partnership for Middlesex Women, while Gaya Gole starred with the ball, taking 5/27. All three are named in tomorrow’s squad.

In the Blast, Gloucestershire currently sit at the bottom of the Tier Two South table, yet to register a win from their opening two games. In their most recent outing at Kent, however, opener, Bea Willis, impressed with an unbeaten 56.
