The first round of the Victoria Park midweek cup took place recently with 32 teams across five divisions competing against one another. The cup itself saw 16 matches take place across the whole of one week.
Highlights included Division 5’s Old Fallopians, a team who had won just two matches in eighteen games over the last two years, defeat 2023 champions and last year’s runners up Rose & Crown. Whilst division 4’s Gousey chased down 210 in 16 overs to defeat 2023 league champions Royal Tigers from division 1. Old Fallopians and Regents SI also moved into the second round, defeating Tobs of division 5, whilst NMCC of division 5 booked their second-round berth defeating Kenton Super Yams.
However, the fireworks were left to the end of the week with I Don’t Like Cricket of division 2 defeating fellow division 2 side London Sportif. With six runs needed from the final ball, Anchit Aiyappa smashed a huge six to claim victory for his side.
