ANOTHER WEEKEND OF HUNDREDS FOR OUR COUNTY AGE GROUP PLAYERS

ANOTHER WEEKEND OF HUNDREDS FOR OUR COUNTY AGE GROUP PLAYERS

In what has already been an incredible season of run-scoring achievements for the Middlesex County Age Group squads and EPG squads, there was plenty more success to enjoy over the weekend, with another four hundreds hit by the next generation of Middlesex stars, in the Under 12s, Under 14s and Under 16s age groups - taking the total of centuries hit by Middlesex youngsters in the County Age Group system to a staggering 24 to this point of the season!

It was a special day yesterday for Hasshir Hussain, who represented the Middlesex Under 12s against Hampshire Under 12s, as the young opener hit 109 to help his side post 212 for 8 in their 40 overs. Hasshir's innings included seven boundaries and came off 122 deliveries. In reply, Hampshire were dismissed in the 39th over of their chase for 183, sealing a 29-run victory for the young Seaxes.

In the Under 14s County Cup quarter-final match against Glamorgan, Middlesex demolished their opponents, winning by the huge margin of 229 runs, thanks largely to young Middlesex opener Eisa Khan, who hit 11 boundaries and three maximums in an innings of 102 from 112 deliveries, to help his side to a competitive total of 292 for 6 in their allotted 45 overs.

Glamorgan were never in the chase really, as young Roman Razik put himself in the spotlight with the ball, picking up phenomenal figures of 5 for 4 from 5 overs, as the Welsh youngsters were rolled for just 63 in reply, to seal a massive win for Middlesex and secure a place in the semi-finals of the national Under 14's County Cup competition.

The Under 16s hopes of qualifying for the knockout places of the County Cup were scuppered by defeat to Sussex in their penultimate group match at the Blackstone Academy, as the hosts secured a five wicket win with an over of the game to spare.

Middlesex batted beautifully however to amass a total of 301 for 7 in their 50 overs, with two centurions in the ranks. Openers James Mitchell and Ryaan Hussein both notched three figure scores and got their side off to a flying start, as the former hit an unbeaten 125 from 137 balls, with 11 fours and one six in his innings, whilst the latter hit 102 from 103 balls, including 13 fours and one maximum, as the pair shared an opening partnership of 181.

It proved to be not enough however, as Sussex chased the target down with just six balls of the match remaining for the loss of five wickets to secure their second win of the group stage.

It's been an incredible summer of run-scoring for the youngsters and we look forward to seeing how the Under 14s get on next weekend in the County Cup semi-final, when they'll be taking on Sussex. We wish them every success.
