Middlesex will be looking to extend their winning run tomorrow when we return to Metro Bank One-Day Cup action against Durham at Banks Homes Riverside.
The seaxes opened their 50-over account on Sunday with a five-wicket win over Sussex Sharks at a gloriously sunny Lord’s.
Sam Robson and Joe Cracknell were stand-out performers with the bat as we chased down the required 256 with 4.1 overs to spare. Robson top-scored with 89, whilst Cracknell made 78 as the pair put on 144 for the second wicket – building a solid foundation.
With the ball, Noah Cornwell claimed career-best figures of 3/50 as young debutant Jamie Feldman impressed also – taking 2/36 and running out Danny Lamb with a direct hit.
Men’s Interim First Team Coach, Dane Vilas, has named a squad of 14 for tomorrow’s clash at Chester-Le-Street.
Loanee, Nathan Gilchrist – who joined the Club from Kent earlier today – has been drafted in straight away and will be available for selection. He has made 27 appearances in the 50-over competition, taking 28 wickets, including best figures of 5/45.
In 2022 he played a big part in Kent winning the Royal London Cup, taking 14 wickets in the competition, including 3 for 65 in the final against Lancashire at Trent Bridge.
To manage bowler workloads, Noah Cornwell hasn’t travelled to Durham and won’t feature. Irish quick, Josh Little, also won’t feature, as he had a scan yesterday which revealed that he has a stress fracture in his right side and will miss the remainder of the One-Day Cup campaign. We wish him a speedy recovery.
Sebastian Morgan and Naavya Sharma have come in as replacements having recovered from injuries and could feature in the competition for the first time.
As for Durham, well they have won two out of the three games they’ve played so far – defeating Sussex and Kent respectively.
In that win against Kent at Beckenham on Sunday, opener Emilio Gay struck an unbeaten 119 as his side chased 239 inside 40 overs.
Wicketkeeper, Ollie Robinson, starred in the win against Sussex on the opening day scoring 100 off just 79 balls as Will Rhodes made 96 batting at three. Rhodes then also took 5/30 in 7.3 overs as the visitors were dismissed for 259 – 51 runs short.
If you are not travelling to Durham, the match will be available to watch for free via the Middlesex Cricket website on the live stream provided by our hosts tomorrow.
