FORMER MIDDLESEX COMMITTEE MEMBER KEITH MEIN PASSES AWAY

Middlesex Cricket is saddened to hear of the passing of long-standing member and former Middlesex Committee member, Keith Mein, who died at home last Friday, aged 81.

As a young man, in his twenties, Keith worked in the Netherlands, where he began playing cricket – a game he would grow to love and commit the rest of his life to in various guises.

Keith enjoyed a successful career in the HR and Personnel sector, working as Group Personnel Manager for IXG Group for more than six years, before then working for over a decade in Risk Management for The Highly Focussed Company.

He was a passionate supporter of both Middlesex Cricket, and recreationally, North Middlesex Cricket Club, where he could often be seen watching and supporting the Shepherds Cot-based Middlesex Premier League side.

Keith became a Middlesex County Cricket Club member three decades ago, and was a familiar face at Middlesex matches both home and away throughout his time following the Club. He was also a dedicated member of the Seaxe Club for many years and could often be found enjoying time with fellow members in the Seaxe box in the Tavern Stand.

He served as an administrator for many years on Middlesex Committees, sitting on both the Club’s General Committee and Membership Committee, and never shied away from constructively offering his frank views and sparking healthy debate.

Outside of cricket, Keith was a keen follower of rugby and football, and for many years was a season ticket holder at both Harlequins and his beloved Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Keith was a popular character around Lord’s and the Middlesex out-grounds, and he will be sadly missed by many fellow members.

The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Middlesex Cricket are with Keith’s family and many friends at this saddest of times.
