SQUAD & PREVIEW | MIDDLESEX WOMEN V WORCESTERSHIRE RAPIDS | METRO BANK ONE-DAY CUP

MIDDLESEX WOMEN NAME SQUAD OF 13 FOR METRO BANK ONE-DAY CUP CLASH WITH WORCESTERSHIRE AT MERCHANT TAYLORS'

Middlesex Women will play their final Metro Bank One-Day Cup group-stage match tomorrow, taking on Worcestershire Rapids back at Merchant Taylors’ School.

Head Coach, Marc Broom, has named a squad of 13 for the occasion, with six changes from Monday’s victory over Sussex Sharks. Pippa Sproul returns behind the stumps, joined by Gaya Gole, Georgia Irving, Sarah Pearson and Katie Wolfe, while 16-year-old Victoria Solomon receives her first senior call-up.

Last time out, Middlesex secured a 179-run win over Sussex to extend their unbeaten run to eight. Issy Routledge and Artemis Downer shared a record List A opening stand of 181 for Middlesex Women before Saskia Horley raced to a 28-ball half-century, helping the side post 320/5 – their second-highest total of the season. With the ball, wickets were spread across the attack, as Anaya Patel and Layla Judge each claimed three to bowl the Sharks out for 141 inside 41 overs.

Having won all eight of their group games, Middlesex now have the chance to complete a perfect group stage tomorrow. A top-two finish is already secured, and with it a home semi-final, which will be played at Radlett Cricket Club on Sunday 7th September. A victory or a draw tomorrow would guarantee us first place, though a loss would open the door to Glamorgan or Northamptonshire, who could still overtake on net run rate if one wins their head-to-head with a bonus point.

Provided Middlesex finish top, we will face the side in fourth. Yorkshire currently hold that spot, but Worcestershire and Gloucestershire remain in the mix, separated by just two points.

Fifth-place Worcestershire are the only Tier Two side Middlesex have yet to face this year across formats. The Rapids have four wins from eight, including an opening-day triumph over Yorkshire, as well as victories against Leicestershire, Kent and Derbyshire. Last time out, they fell to Glamorgan by 10 wickets despite an unbeaten 55 from Clare Boycott, who is also the second-highest run-scorer in the competition.

Play is scheduled to begin at 10:30am, with entry free for all spectators. It would be great to see as many members and supporters as possible to cheer on the team as they look to complete a perfect group-stage campaign, in what may be our final outing at Merchant Taylors’ this season.

For those unable to attend, the match will be live streamed on the Club’s website and YouTube channel, with full coverage available in the Match Centre. As always, you can also stay updated throughout the day via our social media channels.
