Middlesex Under 18 Girls will be taking on Lancashire in the semi-final of the County T20 Cup at Neston Cricket Club in the Wirral this coming Sunday, having recently qualified for Finals Day.
They reached finals day after a hugely impressive group campaign, which saw them win seven of their ten group matches and lose just once, to finish as runners-up behind Somerset in Group Two of the competition.
Victories over Essex, Hampshire twice, Surrey twice, and Somerset twice saw them end their campaign with 84 points, however two rained off clashes against Kent deprived them of top spot in the group, despite beating the eventual group winners Somerset twice along the way.
A quarter-final tie against Berkshire was their reward, which they won by 13 runs at Hornsey Cricket Club, seeing them progress to Finals Day where they’ll take on the Red Rose.
Lancashire will prove to be tough opposition, after Sunday’s opponents steamrollered Group One – winning nine of their ten group matches, before despatching Buckinghamshire by 38 runs in the quarter-final stage.
The winners of Middlesex v Lancashire, who play in the first semi-final of the day at 10.30am, will face the winners of Leicestershire or Warwickshire, who go head-to-head in the other semi-final, with the two winners meeting in the final later in the day.
With our Under 14 Boys already lifting the ECB National County Cup a fortnight ago, the Girls U18s will be looking to emulate their efforts and secure the second piece of silverware for the Club’s County Age Group sides this season.
We wish everyone involved with Middlesex’s Under 18 Girls side all the best of luck this coming weekend.
