MIDDLESEX WOMEN TO PLAY SCG XI AT LORD'S IN JULY

Middlesex Cricket is today excited to announce that Middlesex Women will play an invitational match against a Sydney Cricket Ground XI at Lord’s this summer.

The T20 match will be played on Tuesday 14th July, following the conclusion of the side’s Vitality Blast campaign; a title that they will be looking to retain, having won the inaugural Tier Two edition last summer.

Middlesex Women play two competitive matches at Lord’s this summer – with Kent and Leicestershire Foxes both visiting the Home of Cricket as part of back-to-back double-headers in late May.

Speaking of the match against the Sydney Cricket Ground XI, Women’s Captain Saskia Horley commented:

“I think it’ll be really exciting, and I am looking to catching up with girls from back home who are coming over to play.

“I have also played for the SCG XI myself so that’s extra special!”

Women’s Head Coach Marc Broom added:

“Any time that a player gets the opportunity to step out onto the Lord’s pitch is a special moment, so every time our team are able to get that opportunity is a huge moment for them.

“The T20 match against Sussex last season as part of the Middlesex double-header gave several of the squad memories that will stay with them forever, so this event will do the same for even more.

"Added to this, our players will get to observe how the Sydney Cricket Ground XI approach their cricket – possibly showcasing technical and tactical methods that differ to ours that we can learn from.”
