MIDDLESEX CRICKET APPOINTS PETER FULTON AS MEN'S HEAD COACH

Middlesex Cricket is today delighted to announce that New Zealander Peter Fulton will join the Club as Men’s Head Coach ahead of the 2026 season on a three-year contract.

Fulton, 47 – who played 23 Test Matches for his country – moves to Middlesex from Canterbury Cricket in his homeland, where his side currently sit second in the Plunket Shield (New Zealand’s domestic four-day competition), one point off the leaders at the halfway stage.

The former opening batter has been Head Coach of Canterbury since 2020 and won the Shield during his first season in charge as well as the Ford Trophy (New Zealand’s domestic one-day competition). He added two more Ford Trophy titles in 2023/24 and 2024/25. Canterbury currently sit top of this year’s Ford Trophy table.

As well as winning domestic trophies in both red-ball and white-ball cricket, Fulton also has a great track record in producing international talent – seeing a number of players make their New Zealand bows during his tenure at Canterbury.

In addition to coaching at domestic level, Fulton has also been batting coach for New Zealand – a role which he held prior to joining Canterbury.

The Club’s new Men’s Head Coach will begin duties in early March ahead of our season which gets underway on Friday 3rd April when Gloucestershire visit Lord’s.

Speaking of his appointment, Peter Fulton commented:

“I am delighted to be joining Middlesex Cricket. I have always followed county cricket and wanted an opportunity to be a part of it.

“The club has a rich history, and I can't wait to arrive and get to work on building a cricket team of which the Club and supporters can continue to be very proud of.”

Middlesex’s Director of Cricket Alan Coleman added:

“I am delighted to be welcoming Peter to Middlesex Cricket, and I look forward to working closely with him over the coming years.

"After a thorough process with a number of high-quality candidates, Peter emerged as an ambitious, exciting and hugely talented coach, with a demonstrate proven track record of success in New Zealand domestic cricket with Canterbury. Along with this, he has helped produce a number of Blackcap players from his teams – with producing international players a key ambition of the Club over the coming seasons.

"I'd like to thank Canterbury Cricket for allowing an early release of Peter's contract to allow him to join us for pre-season training. We look forward to welcoming Peter to Middlesex Cricket and Lord's."
