There are a number of things that suggest the cricket season is just around the corner – Easter Chocolates, The Masters in Augusta and, of course, Finals Day of the Middlesex Junior Cricket Association’s Winter Indoor Cricket Competitions.
The last, and naturally most important of the three events listed above, took place last Saturday (21 March 2026) in the Performance Centre at Lord’s Cricket Ground. In a full day of cricket – Finals Day started at 8am and finished at 7pm – 18 teams had the honour and joy of competing in nine finals at ‘The Home of Cricket.’
Trophies were won by boys and girls teams from Ealing, Old Merchant Taylors’, North London and Stanmore, but congratulations must go out to all the teams that reached Finals Day.
Along with the trophies awarded for the wins in finals, was the presentation of the Victor Ludorum trophy, which is awarded to the best club throughout the entire winter programme. In 2025/26 the winners of the Victor Ludorum trophy were Stanmore.
The day is the culmination of four months of intense cricket. Prior to the tournaments starting 42 clubs entered 189 teams, with each side playing a minimum of two games. Some games, inevitably, were conceded, but the organisation of this competition has, amazingly, created more than 3,000 opportunities for young boys and girls to play cricket.
Middlesex in the Community would like to thank all the volunteers who made it possible for all these games to have taken place and, in particular, to Peter Hollman for organising and running the entire thing.
