Middlesex’s men begin their 2026 pre-season preparations tomorrow as they face Hampshire at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton.
This two-day friendly fixture will give new men’s Head Coach Peter Fulton the opportunity to look at his squad as they build up to the first Rothesay County Championship game against Gloucestershire at Lord’s from Friday 3rd April.
Leus du Plooy will lead the side that plays on the south coast as the bowlers will look to get overs in their legs and batters a few runs under their belts.
The weekend's match forms the first of a three-part pre-season programme which will then see us play a behind-closed-doors friendly against Oxford UCCE next week at Merchant Taylors' School before we finish against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge Next weekend.
Our squad have been in the outdoor marquee at Merchant Taylors’ School since Thursday 5th March and they have been ramping up preparations under the watchful eye of the coach staff – batting and bowling on surfaces kindly prepared by Richard Ayling and his team.
Members and supporters should be aware that our hosts Hampshire will not be providing a live stream for this match, however spectators are permitted to enter the ground at the Utilita Bowl, with play starting on both days at 11am.
