MIDDLESEX COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE HOLDS ANNUAL AWARD DINNER

MIDDLESEX COUNTY CRICKET LEAGUE HOLDS ANNUAL AWARD DINNER

The victorious North Middlesex Cricket Club collected their richly deserved silverware last Friday (20 March 2026) at The Middlesex County Cricket League Annual Dinner at Brentford Football Club. The Muswell Hill based club completed a remarkable hat-trick in 2025 when their 1st, 2nd and 3rd XI won Premier League titles. It is a feat that has never been achieved before and will take some emulating.

It was little wonder then that the North Middlesex contingent took up more tables at the dinner than any other club, and it was fitting that Middlesex County Cricket Club’s Luke Hollman, a North Middlesex man through and through, presented them with their trophies.

Other clubs to collect silverware on the evening were Teddington Cricket Club, who won the Middlesex Cup, Crouch End Cricket Club, who won the T20 Cup and Harrow Cricket Club, who triumphed in the Middlesex Trophy.

In the individual awards, Aparajit Khurana of Crouch End CC was recognised as the Premier League player of the year. Aparajit had an excellent all-round season in the league, scoring 230 runs at an average of 38.3 and taking 34 wickets at the cost of just 15.9 runs apiece.

Aum Patel, of Brondesbury Cricket Club, was named as Young Player of the Year after a superb all-round summer too. In 2025 he scored 564 runs at an average of 43.4 and took 36 wickets at 12.9.

A number of Fair Play awards were presented, and Southgate was chosen as the Ground of the Season.

North Middlesex looked set to enjoy their success on Friday evening, but their eyes will quickly turn to the coming season, which starts in five weeks’ time. Five new clubs have joined the MCCL for 2026 – Harrow Lions, GQ United, Old Merchant Taylors, Tentelow and Tower Hamlets. The MCCL welcomes each of the clubs and hopes they have an enjoyable and successful time playing in the leagues.

It is great to see the MCCL continuing to grow and when added up there will be a remarkable amount of cricket organised and played this summer. As we sit here now the MCCL consists of 26 leagues, 76 clubs and 247 teams.

When messing with the figures, it means almost 3,000 people will be playing cricket in the MCCL every Saturday. During the season, the league will oversee the playing of well over 2,000 matches, which creates approx. 45,000 opportunities for an individual to play a competitive game of cricket.

MITC, naturally, thanks the MCCL and its volunteers for all their hard work and care. MITC’s role is to support and help the development of clubs so that they are safe and welcoming places for people to play the game. If anyone would like to sponsor the MCCL, make a donation to help facilities in the county or get involved in some capacity, please contact Angus Fraser on 07768 558071 or by email on [email protected]
