Middlesex celebrated a fantastic period of inclusive cricket this March, with both county and regional table cricket competitions showcasing the very best of school sport, participation, and sportsmanship.
On 11th March, five school teams from across the county came together to compete in the Middlesex Table Cricket County Championship. The event provided a brilliant platform for young people to engage in a highly inclusive format of the game, ensuring that every participant could play a full and meaningful role.
The day was a huge success, filled with competitive matches, positive energy, and outstanding teamwork. Each school demonstrated great enthusiasm and respect for the game, embodying the true spirit of cricket throughout. After a series of closely contested fixtures, Alexandra Park School emerged as worthy county champions, earning the opportunity to represent Middlesex at the regional finals.
The competition would not have been possible without the continued support of the Lord’s Taverners, whose commitment to inclusive cricket provides young people with opportunities to engage in the game regardless of ability. Thanks also go to APS for hosting and helping deliver such a well-organised and enjoyable event.
Building on their county success, Alexandra Park School went on to compete in the regional finals on 17th March—and delivered an outstanding performance against all county winners in the London & Thames Valley region. Demonstrating skill, resilience, and excellent teamwork, they were crowned Regional Table Cricket Champions, a fantastic achievement for the school and for Middlesex.
Their journey does not end there. Alexandra Park School will now progress to the national finals at Lord’s Cricket Ground on May 15th, where they will compete against the very best teams from across the country. It promises to be a memorable occasion at one of cricket’s most iconic venues.
This series of events highlights the power of inclusive cricket in bringing young people together, developing confidence, and creating unforgettable experiences through sport. Middlesex continues to be proud of its role in supporting these opportunities through Middlesex County Cricket Club and its community programmes.
We wish Alexandra Park School the very best of luck as they prepare to represent Middlesex on the national stage.
