MITC ATTEND OPENING OF NEW NET FACILITY IN MILLWALL PARK

Middlesex in the Community attended the opening of a new two-lane non-turf cricket net facility in Millwall Park on the Isle of Dogs on 9 March 2026. The facility was officially opened by Councillor Kamrul Hussain, the Cabinet Member for Culture and Recreation for the London borough of Tower Hamlets, and Angus Fraser, External Relations Director at Middlesex in the Community. The nets, along with a new non-turf pitch in the middle of the park was funded to the amount of £60,000 by the England and Wales Cricket Board and Tower Hamlets Council.

The facility will be available to local schools and to the local community, whose desire to play cricket is incredibly high. The other park in Tower Hamlets, Victoria Park, recently had the first-ever turf pitch in the borough installed. The grass pitches in the park will be used for the first time this coming summer. Demand for cricket facilities in the area is high, and the new nets at Millwall Park will ease the pressure on facilities on Victoria Park and provide an added offering to cricket lovers in the borough.

Middlesex in the Community (MITC) is a charity that is responsible for the delivery of participation and recreational cricket within the 17 London boroughs that form the area recognised as Middlesex. MITC supports the construction of facilities like that at Millwall Park and exists to help provide cricket for anyone within the county who wants to play.
