Middlesex in the Community (MITC) were pleased to deliver its first England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Cricket for Teachers course on Tuesday 24th March. The course welcomed 16 teachers from schools across the County to Oak Wood School in Uxbridge, who kindly hosted MITC for the session.
In partnership with the ECB, Middlesex in the Community was delighted to offer this brand-new Cricket for Teachers CPD programme, which is available to all State Secondary teachers in the county. The course is part of a pilot programme that is being delivered in line with this summer’s upcoming T20 Women's World Cup, which will be hosted in venues across England & Wales, including Lord's Cricket Ground in London.
The CPD module is designed to boost cricket confidence and skills amongst teachers. This confidence will hopefully encourage teachers to organise more cricket sessions, which will enable more young people to have the opportunity to engage & enjoy cricket in schools.
Schools that attend workshops will also receive kitbags to help them apply the knowledge their teachers have developed in the course, and to deliver sessions. The kitbag contains everything needed to run a great cricket session, including 6 sets of stumps, bats of various sizes, batting tees, cones and balls, which will all have the ECB and T20 Women's World Cup branding.
Feedback from those who attended Tuesday’s workshop was overwhelmingly positive. What pleased the teachers was the clear delivery of the course, its practical relevance and the adaptability of the content to each school’s own setting.
These courses mark an important step in strengthening our offer for secondary schools across the county and expanding the opportunities for young people to experience cricket across Middlesex.
