SQUAD NEWS & MATCH PREVIEW | MIDDLESEX V WORCESTERSHIRE | ROTHESAY COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

SQUAD NEWS & MATCH PREVIEW | MIDDLESEX V WORCESTERSHIRE | ROTHESAY COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP

Men’s Head Coach, Peter Fulton, has named an unchanged squad of 13 for this weekend’s Rothesay County Championship clash against Worcestershire at Lord’s.

Middlesex head into this weekend atop the Division Two table following our innings and 14-run victory over Gloucestershire on the opening weekend.

Leus du Plooy will lead the side again. He was voted Player of the Match last weekend, thanks to his outstanding knock of 182. Sam Robson, Josh de Caires and Max Holden will likely join him at the top of the order again. The middle order will likely consist of Ben Geddes, Ryan Higgins and wicket-keeper Joe Cracknell, who fell just short of a century at Lord’s last weekend.

Toby Roland-Jones will lead the seam attack. He claimed his 35th first-class five-wicket haul in Gloucestershire’s first innings last weekend. 18-year-old Sebastian Morgan opened the bowling alongside the experienced Roland-Jones, taking career-best figures of 4/48 against Gloucestershire. All-rounder Ryan Higgins will be in support. With six games to play in seven weeks, Peter Fulton may look to rotate his seamers throughout this busy opening block; he’ll have either Tom Helm or Naavya Sharma to choose from.

Left-arm spinner Zafar Gohar took four wickets last weekend and will lead the spin attack. He’ll have support from Josh de Caires, Luke Hollman and Sam Robson.

Worcestershire head into the match following a draw with Derbyshire on the opening weekend. They were asked to follow on, having trailed Derbyshire by 313 after the first innings, however, they managed to bat out the best part of four sessions to save the draw.

Play will get underway at 11 am tomorrow, and we'll be covering the whole game live on our enhanced live stream, available on the Middlesex website or on the Club's YouTube channel. Lead commentator Kevin Hand will be joined by various special guests throughout the match.
