Men’s Head Coach Peter Fulton has named a squad of 14 for tomorrow’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup clash against Hampshire in Southampton.
There are two changes from the Middlesex squad that defeated Essex by 41 runs in the competition’s opening round on Tuesday, firstly Jack Nelson, who signed a rookie contract with the club earlier today, comes in to replace the injured Luke Hollman, and Jack Davies has been added to the squad.
Nathan Fernandes starred for Middlesex with the bat against Essex; his knock of 112 off 130 balls helped Middlesex set 294, which proved too much for the visitors on Tuesday. He will likely open the batting again alongside Josh de Caires.
Hollman’s absence leaves a gap in Middlesex’s spin attack; captain Ben Geddes may turn to Rookie Nelson to provide support to Zafar Gohar; however, De Caires, Fernandes and Robson are also available should they be called upon.
These two sides last met in the quarter-finals of last year’s competition. Hampshire came out on top at Radlett in that one last year, and reached the final where Worcestershire Rapids defeated them in a rain-affected game.
Tomorrow’s hosts won their opening game of the competition, defeating Yorkshire by 50 runs in Scarborough. Tom Prest scored a century, with Jake Lehmann contributing with 75. Ashutosh Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/48.
