Between 3–5 August, Middlesex in the Community teamed up with Surrey Cricket, Essex Cricket, and Kent Cricket to deliver a summer experience that brought young people together from across the capital. The London Loop trip — now becoming a standout feature of the school holidays — gives children the chance to meet peers from different backgrounds, build confidence, and enjoy activities they may never have tried before.
In total, 42 children took part, representing four counties and a wide range of boroughs and communities across London.
A Day at Arundel: Cricket, Castles, and New Challenges
The group was hosted by the Arundel Castle Cricket Foundation, who delivered a packed programme of activities designed to stretch skills, spark curiosity, and build teamwork.
The children took part in:
· Cricket sessions — fun, inclusive games on one of the most picturesque grounds in the country
· Yoga — helping children relax, focus, and try something new
· Woodland tasks — outdoor challenges encouraging problem-solving and teamwork
· First aid training — giving children practical skills and confidence
· High ropes — pushing comfort zones and celebrating bravery
· A guided visit of Arundel Castle — exploring history in one of England’s most iconic landmarks
· Fish and chips on the beach — the perfect way to end the trip
Building Connections Across Counties
One of the core aims of London Loop is to bring children together who may never normally cross paths. Over three days, friendships formed quickly, barriers fell away, and the group became a tight-knit community.
The collaboration between Middlesex, Surrey, Essex, and Kent Cricket continues to show how sport can unite young people, regardless of background or postcode.
A Trip That Made a Real Impact
The feedback from families was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how valuable the experience had been for their children.

With momentum building and demand growing, plans are already being discussed for future editions — even bigger, even bolder, and reaching even more children across London.
