Men’s Head Coach Peter Fulton has named an unchanged squad of 13 for tomorrow’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup clash against Derbyshire Falcons at the Our Coop County Ground.
Middlesex head into the fixture knowing that a victory will secure a place in the knockout rounds; however, they will have to wait until the final round of the group stage, on Tuesday, to find out where they will finish in the group.
Josh de Caires will once again be opening up; he’s had an unforgettable campaign so far with 341 runs to his name, at an average of 68.2, not forgetting his 6/35 with the ball against Hampshire.
Ben Geddes scored his second half-century of the competition in Friday’s win against Durham; however, the skipper is third in the run charts, just 12 behind Nathan Fernandes’ 215.
Naavya Sharma claimed his second four-fer of the campaign in Chester-le-Street. He’s been extremely impressive this campaign, with 15 wickets to his name, the third most in the competition. In addition to his wicket tally, he has also been exceptional at the death; the 20-year-old went for just 23 runs and took two wickets in his final three overs against Durham, where Middlesex needed every over available to them to chase down 303.
Our opponents currently occupy seventh place in Group B, with two wins to their name – against Glamorgan and Sussex Sharks – and are no longer able to qualify for the next stage of the competition. Despite this, there have been some impressive performances from the Falcons this campaign. Martin Andersson, Brooke Guest and Wayne Masden have all scored centuries, with Jack Morley taking a five-fer.
These two sides last met in this format in 2024, where Derbyshire came out on top by nine wickets. Middlesex set Derbyshire 266 to win; however, an unbeaten century from Harry Came guided his team to a dominant victory in Derby.
Tomorrow’s game is scheduled to get underway at 11 am. You will be able to watch all the action live in the Match Centre on the Middlesex website, and you can stay up to date across our social media channels, including our new WhatsApp channel.
