Men’s Head Coach Peter Fulton has named a squad of 15 for tomorrow’s Metro Bank One-Day Cup Semi-Final against Durham at Radlett.
Caleb Falconer, Tom Helm and Sebastian Morgan’s duties in the Hundred have all concluded, and they have been named in the squad for tomorrow. Leus du Plooy and Max Holden are still with Manchester Super Giants, as they take on Trent Rockets in the final at the Home of Cricket tomorrow.
Helm and Morgan have both featured once in the One-Day Cup this year. Helm was in the side that defeated Yorkshire at Lord’s, where he took the final wicket to remove Dom Bess. Morgan played in Middlesex’s final group stage game against Sussex Sharks earlier this week, where he claimed figures of 4/46. Falconer comes into the squad fresh off two half-centuries for a PCC XI against a Pakistan XI at Beckenham.
Josh de Caires finished as Middlesex’s leading run-scorer after the group stages. The 24-year-old struck 376 runs at an average of 53.71. Just behind him is his opening partner, Nathan Fernandes, who has amassed 336 runs at an average of 42.
Joe Cracknell scored his maiden List A century against Sussex Sharks on Tuesday, which took the wicketkeeper's total for the competition to 317. He’s been handy with the gloves too, claiming 17 dismissals, the third most in the competition.
Noah Cornwell and Naavya Sharma finished as Middlesex’s joint-leading wicket-takers. The pair have 15 wickets each at an average of 21.13 and 18.73, respectively. They’ve been well supported by the rest of the seam department, with Henry Brookes and Toby Roland-Jones each taking seven wickets. Roland-Jones has been Middlesex’s most economical bowler, going at just 4.13. Zafar Gohar has been exceptional with the ball so far; he’s claimed 10 wickets in the competition, with an economy of 4.85.
Tomorrow’s opponents, Durham, finished third in Group B, with five wins and three losses to their name. One of those losses came against Middlesex when some late heroics from Roland-Jones and Brookes with the bat helped their side chase down 303 in the final over.
Durham overcame Lancashire in yesterday’s semi-final with a convincing 162-run win over the Red Rose. David Bedingham reached three figures in that one with Shafiqullah Ghafari taking four-fer. Will Rhodes tops the run charts for the visitors; he’s struck 335 runs so far this year, with Alex Lees close behind on 304. Ghafari leads the way with the ball with 15 to his name so far.
