Middlesex Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of Kiwi Danru Ferns for the final three games of the Rothesay County Championship.
The right-arm quick will be called into action immediately, joining Peter Fulton’s side to take on Durham this week. The signing adds further depth to Middlesex’s seam attack, as players enter a busy period with three four-day games in 20 days alongside the Metro Bank One-Day Cup final, which Danru is not eligible to play in.
32-year-old Ferns has featured in 46 first-class matches, mostly for Auckland, since making his debut in 2017, taking 116 wickets, including two five-fers.
On joining Middlesex, Danru Ferns said:
“I’m excited and honoured to join Middlesex. It’s been a childhood dream of mine to play County cricket, and being able to do it for a historic club like Middlesex makes it even more special.
“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to a successful team and being a part of the squad.”
Director of Cricket Alan Coleman added:
“Danru is an experienced cricketer who will add depth to our seam attack for the remainder of this year’s County Championship.
“Although Danru will not be eligible to play in the One-Day Cup Final, we are conscious of managing the workload of our available bowling group, given 3 Championship matches and a One Day Cup final falling within a period of 19 days and at the end of a busy season of cricket."
