Middlesex Women lifted the Metro Bank One-Day Cup League Two trophy with an impressive 67-run victory over Glamorgan Women at the Seat Unique Stadium in Bristol.
In a high-scoring final, Middlesex produced an outstanding all-round performance to overcome Glamorgan and secure the trophy. After being asked to bat first, Middlesex recovered from 96/3 to post 278/6 from their 50 overs, with captain Saskia Horley producing a magnificent 117 from just 86 balls.
Glamorgan made a promising start to their chase but were eventually bowled out for 211 in 44.5 overs. Horley completed a superb all-round performance with figures of 4/28, while Hannah Davis claimed an excellent 3/38 to help Middlesex finish the job.
The victory caps an impressive campaign for Middlesex, who produced a composed performance under the pressure of a final to secure the Metro Bank One-Day Cup League Two title.
Having won the toss, Glamorgan elected to bowl and made an early breakthrough as Artemis Downer was dismissed for 13, leaving Middlesex 23/1 in the fifth over.
Pippa Sproul and Issy Routledge then began to rebuild the innings, putting together a valuable 61-run partnership for the second wicket.
Routledge eventually fell for 24, caught by Parfitt off Nicole Reid, before Sproul followed soon afterwards for 43, caught and bowled by Poppy Walker.
With Middlesex reduced to 96/3, Horley joined Finty Trussler at the crease and the pair began the recovery.
The fourth-wicket partnership initially progressed steadily before the Middlesex captain began to accelerate. Horley brought up her half-century from 54 balls, while Trussler provided excellent support at the other end.
The pair then passed 100 for the fourth wicket from just 110 balls, putting Middlesex firmly back in control of the final.
Trussler eventually fell for a valuable 43 from 64 balls, stumped by Abbey Freeborn off Eve Jackson, but Horley continued her assault.
The Middlesex captain reached a magnificent century from just 77 deliveries, having already struck 10 fours and a six.
Horley eventually departed for a superb 117 from 86 balls, with 12 fours and a six, caught by Gammon off Gemma Porter with Middlesex 260/5.
Scarlett Hughes was then run out for 10 from the final ball of the innings, but Abbie Whybrow provided the perfect finish, smashing an unbeaten 14 from just five balls, including a four and a six.
Middlesex closed on an imposing 278/6 from their 50 overs, leaving Glamorgan needing 279 to claim the trophy.
Glamorgan made a positive start to their chase, but Middlesex struck early when captain Lauren Parfitt was bowled by Siya Nanavati for eight.
Daisy Jeanes responded with an aggressive innings, striking seven fours in a brisk 40 from 35 balls, but Routledge made the breakthrough when Jeanes was caught by Sproul to leave Glamorgan 56/2.
Freeborn and Ellis then attempted to rebuild, but Horley entered the attack and quickly made an impact.
Ellis was trapped lbw for six before Horley struck again to remove Megan Sturge for five, caught by Davis, leaving Glamorgan 72/4.
Freeborn and Bethan Gammon then produced Glamorgan's best partnership of the innings.
The pair added 72 for the fifth wicket, with Gammon taking the attack to the Middlesex bowlers as she moved towards a half-century.
Freeborn eventually fell for 43 from 56 balls, bowled by Anaya Patel, leaving Glamorgan 144/5 in the 30th over.
Gammon continued to give Glamorgan hope and brought up an excellent half-century from 64 balls, but Davis made the crucial breakthrough when she had the Glamorgan top-scorer caught by Turner for 58.
At 170/6, Glamorgan still required 109 runs, but Middlesex's bowlers continued to apply the pressure.
Davis dismissed Jackson for seven before Horley removed Porter for 16 and bowled Shearn for a duck.
Walker was then dismissed for eight, caught by Horley off Davis, leaving Glamorgan 196/9.
With only 15 runs required to take Glamorgan past 200, Horley completed her four-wicket haul by having Porter caught by Trussler as Glamorgan were bowled out for 211 in 44.5 overs.
Horley's 4/28 was the outstanding bowling performance, while Davis finished with excellent figures of 3/38 from her 10 overs. Routledge and Patel also claimed a wicket each as Middlesex's disciplined attack closed out the final.
The 67-run victory secured the Metro Bank One-Day Cup League Two trophy for Middlesex, with Horley's magnificent century and four-wicket haul proving decisive on a memorable day in Bristol.
Horley was the star of the final with 117 from 86 balls before returning to take four wickets, while Davis and the rest of the Middlesex attack ensured Glamorgan could not complete their chase.
