Men’s Head Coach Peter Fulton has named a squad of 13 for this week’s Rothesay County Championship clash against Gloucestershire at the Seat Unique Stadium.
With Middlesex’s hopes of securing promotion now gone, Fulton has opted to rest some of the squad ahead of the Metro Bank One-Day Cup Final on Sunday, with Naavya Sharma and Tom Helm missing out on this one. This will likely mean we will see the debut of Danru Ferns this week. The addition of Caleb Falconer, who is in his first Red-Ball squad since June, and Aaryan Sawant to the side may mean changes are made in the middle order.
Gloucestershire currently sit bottom of Division Two; however, they have won their previous two fixtures, against Lancashire and Derbyshire. James Bracey is leading the run charts for the Bristol-based side. He’s struck 982 so far this year, with a high-score of 148*. Miles Hammond, who has 830 runs this year, is the only other Gloucestershire player to score a century this season. Will Williams is the leading wicket-taker this year with 35 to his name.
Middlesex came out on top in the reverse fixture this season. Leus du Plooy scored 182, and Toby Roland-Jones took five-fer as Middlesex won by an innings and 14 runs in the season opener.
Play is scheduled to get underway at 10:30 on all four days in Chester-le-Street. You can watch the action live on the Match Centre on the Middlesex website. You can also stay up to date across our social media channels.
