Men’s Head Coach Peter Fulton has named a squad of 12 for this week’s Rothesay County Championship clash against Lancashire at Merchant Taylors’ School.
Harry Duke, who joined the club on loan earlier today, is in the side with Joe Cracknell unavailable with a finger injury. Sebastian Morgan is back in the squad for the first time since the return of red-ball cricket. The absence of Noah Cornwell and Nathan Fernandes represents the only other changes from the side that drew with Derbyshire over the weekend.
Middlesex defeated Lancashire in the reverse fixture back in May. A quick-fire 73 from Ben Geddes in the fourth innings helped his side chase down 116 to win a low-scoring thriller. Middlesex’s quicks enjoyed the lively surface at Emirates Old Trafford with Roland-Jones, Higgins, Sharma and Morgan sharing the wickets amongst themselves.
Middlesex will need to win this one to keep their promotion hopes alive, with Peter Fulton’s side currently sitting 38 points adrift of second-placed Kent in Division Two. Lancashire currently occupy seventh place in the table with 94 points to their name. Despite Steven Croft’s side being out of the promotion race, the Red Rose will be looking to avoid their worst County Championship finish in recent history.
