Middlesex's First Team Coach, Peter Fulton, has named a squad of 13 for the final match of the 2026 season, when we take on Northamptonshire at Lord's this week in the Rothesay County Championship.
Tom Helm replaces Sebastian Morgan in the squad; he’s being rested alongside Naavya Sharma after a heavy workload throughout the 2026 season. Nathan Fernandes coming in for Aaryan Sawant marks the only other change from last week’s draw against Gloucestershire.
Ryan Higgins played a key role in Middlesex’s One-Day Cup Final, scoring his maiden List A century, although, in red-ball cricket, he’ll admit he’s not scored as many runs as he’d like in the Championship, it’s been his bowling where he has excelled this season, recently claiming his 50th victim this season, the second time he has passed the milestone in his 10-year first-class career.
A man in form with the bat right now is Harry Duke. He’s scored 288 runs at an average of 72 in the three games he’s played in his second stint on loan at Middlesex. He’s also been exceptional with the gloves this year, with 21 catches to his name in five first-class games.
Although Middlesex fell out of the promotion race a few weeks back, our opponents this week are eyeing up a return to the top flight following their relegation in 2023. They currently occupy third place in Division Two, four points behind Kent. They’ll come to Lord’s for the first time since April 2018 in the County Championship and look to overturn their deficit.
These two sides last met in Round Three of the County Championship back in April in a game heavily affected by bad light. Despite over a full day being lost to light, there was still plenty of time for both teams to score runs, with Nathan McSweeney and Jayden Sales scoring centuries for Northamptonshire, and Sam Robson reaching three figures for Middlesex in the drawn game.
This week’s game will also mark the final match of Alan Coleman’s tenure as Director of Cricket, bringing to an end his 21-year affiliation with the club.

Spectators at Lord’s will be able to join us in celebrating the many successes across Middlesex Cricket this year. Firstly, both One-Day Cup trophies will be in the Coronation Garden at Lord’s tomorrow for photos from gates open until the end of the lunch interval. On Friday, we will be celebrating Shepherds Bush CC’s National Club Championship after their victory against New Farnley in the Final two weeks ago.
