Wills and Legacies

Wills and Legacies

Making a gift in your Will is likely to be the most significant donation you make in your lifetime. It is an opportunity for you to support or say ‘Thank You’ to a club, person or charity that means a lot to you because it has played an important part in your life.

Including a gift in your Will to Middlesex in the Community is a way of showing your love and care for cricket in Middlesex. Cricket is a much-loved sport in Middlesex and your kindness and generosity will have a huge impact on our ability to positively influence the lives of thousands of young and elderly people across the county.

Aside from the potential impacts mentioned above, any amount you bequeath to Middlesex in the Community will be free of tax. The gift may also reduce the overall tax liability due on your estate.

The Difference You Could Make

No gift is too small, and each donation has the power to make a real difference to the people in our community who most need our help and support.

What would you like to see done with your estate?

When we look back over our lives, we realise the things that matter most to us are our family, our friends and our community.

And, rightly, it is probably in this order that you would consider leaving gifts in your Will.

By leaving a gift in your will to Middlesex in the Community, you will be having a positive influence on the future of a sport you love and the lives of underserved members of our community who want to play cricket.

Where we look to do good.

London is a city of extremes – extreme wealth and extreme poverty. Sadly, the void between the two is widening. London now has the highest poverty rate in England and, sadly, it is rising

The rate of child poverty in London is higher than the average across the rest of England and, unfortunately, there has been a recent increase in Pensioner Poverty too. To complete a challenging picture, a white Londoner is 50% less likely to live in poverty than Londoners of other ethnicities.

With poverty comes a vulnerability to poor educational attainment, future worklessness and to suffering with poor physical health and mental wellbeing.

As these numbers increase, so does the need for us to help, which is why much of our work takes place within these communities.

A gift in your Will could help ensure that we can continue to do our bit to help.

Middlesex is the only fully urban county in the country, which makes facilities and the availability of facilities our greatest challenge.

Using the funds given to Middlesex in the Community by the Centenary Youth Trust, we have the basis for a significant endowment that can support our ambitions to provide better facilities for training and participation than ever before.

If you wish, you could dedicate your legacy to this fund.

How do I start this process?

Getting your Will written can be a daunting and disconcerting experience. To sit down to discuss what happens following your demise is not a subject everyone wants to discuss. Making a Will, however, is extremely important. Only by making a Will can you be certain your estate will be distributed as you wish.

We are not solicitors, and we recommend you seek the services of a solicitor to have your Will written. Writing your own Will, even with a Will pack, can be risky because probate law, inheritance tax and the language used are not always straightforward.

We are here to help you, and if you would like to talk things through or have any questions you would like to ask, please feel free to contact Angus Fraser on 07768 558071 or by email on [email protected]

Below, we will show you two options when considering making a gift in your Will to Middlesex in the Community.

The first option applies if you have made up your mind and would like to commit to making the gift.

The second option is if you would like to make a pledge to make a gift in your Will to Middlesex in the Community.
