New Junior Formats Resources Launched

This season, junior cricket at local clubs and schools has started to look slightly different. To ensure that children have a great experience of playing cricket, ECB has spent the last three years engaging in extensive research looking at how to help boys and girls develop skills that will stay with them for life, alongside ensuring that they have fun while playing. This has led to new recommended Junior Formats intended to support children developing at their own pace, in games and activities best suited to their age and ability.

Coaches, team managers, parents and young people are often asked to manage or umpire junior games. How games are managed has an impact on how much children enjoy their cricket and therefore want to keep playing. Whoever takes on the role of umpire, plays a vital role in making sure it is a fun and safe game for everyone. The ECB have provided some top tips to:
