Johan de Silva, MITC’s Operations Manager, is an ECB Advanced Coach with a variety of playing experience at Middlesex and Hertfordshire clubs' first elevens. He holds a variety of roles within the recreational game, and is now established at Old Camdenians CC.
Johan set up his own coaching company, JDS Cricket Coaching, and works closely with Middlesex Cricket to deliver as much cricket as possible in North London. As part of this work, Johan was involved in building a record-breaking junior section at Highgate CC, and revitalising junior cricket at Alexandra Park CC. Johan is the Borough Lead for East London Boroughs, Barnet & Enfield Boroughs and was the Middlesex Cricket Under 11 CAG Girls Lead Coach for five seasons, as well as being a qualified Coach Developer. Now based in Suffolk, his coaching work extends through the East of England with roles with Suffolk Women, Suffolk Under 18 Girls and Essex Girls' EPP.
With a degree from UCL in Human Sciences and graduate experience in insurance broking at Marsh & Maclennan Companies, Johan has considerable expertise he is able to bring to the administration of recreational cricket across the county.
Johan is passionate about improving everyone’s enjoyment of cricket, challenging players and volunteers to pursue excellence, and inspiring a love of the game for all. His achievements have been recognised with the Middlesex Cricket Young Volunteer OSCA in 2015, the Middlesex Cricket Coach of the Year OSCA in 2018 and an MCoA Special Award in 2022.
