Middlesex Women spend training session at North Middlesex Cricket Club

Middlesex Women’s Head Coach, Sanjay Patel, former England Women’s international, Beth Morgan, and Maia Bouchier, all took time out of their Middlesex Women’s winter training schedule recently to spend time with the Under 13 Girls squad of North Middlesex Cricket Club.

Morgan, former Middlesex Women's Captain, has a hugely impressive international career behind her, having represented England Women on over one hundred occasion in all formats, winning the ICC Women’s World Cup, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and the Women’s Ashes, whilst Bouchier herself is just starting her own international career, having been involved in the England Women’s Development Programme this winter. With Patel, the two Middlesex Women spent a training session with North Middlesex Women, coaching the Harringey based club side.

Sharon Eyers, Middlesex Cricket’s Head of Children and Events commented...

“To be able to head into our clubs around the county with players of Beth’s and Maia’s quality is a fantastic thing and allows the club players an insight into just what can be achieved from playing cricket if you put in the time and the dedication.

"From a cricketing perspective, both Beth and Maia could help the North Middlesex players technically with their games, whilst also talking to them about the great things that they’ve managed to achieve themselves from the game.

“Ultimately, we’re all about getting more youngsters playing the game, so using our cricketers as a means of engaging with young enthusiastic cricketers, who themselves are just finding their way in the game, leaves a really positive message and helps to inspire them to keep playing.”

Mike Harris, North Middlesex’s Under 13’s Girls Team Coach commented...

"The girls enjoyed meeting Maia and Beth, and it was great for them to meet talented women who are playing County Cricket.

"The Middlesex coaches and women players ran great batting and bowling practices for the girls which has really helped them develop their game.

"Beth and Maia inspired the girls with their stories of playing County and International cricket."
