SIMPSON & GOLE TAKE TOP ACCOLADES AT MIDDLESEX CRICKET 2020 PLAYER AWARDS

John Simpson and Gayatri Gole receive the Player of the Year awards for their respective squads as the Middlesex 2020 Player Awards were hosted virtually for the first time.

Sky Sports News presenter David Fulton was the event host and was joined by a number of Middlesex players and club representatives to celebrate the very best individual performances throughout the 2020 truncated season.

Tim Murtagh scooped three awards on the night – the John Budgen Memorial Bowling Performance of the year for his impressive match-winning 5 for 34 against Sussex in the Bob Willis Trophy; Red-Ball Player of the Year, as voted by Middlesex Members and Supporters and the Players’ Player of the Year.

Nick Gubbins picked up the Geoff Norris Batting Performance award for his superb 192 against London rivals Surrey in our opening Bob Willis Trophy match of the summer. Whilst Max Holden received the Pamela & Gerald Williams Fielding Awards, based upon his T20 fielding points, his attitude in the field, attention to skills and a group decision by the coaching staff.

Stephen Eskinazi walked away as the White-Ball Player of the Year, after his extraordinary performance in T20 impressed Middlesex Members and Supporters in the public vote. Luke Hollman’s incredible breakthrough season earned him the Emerging Player of the Year.

17-year-old Sonali Patel secure the Women’s Youth Player of the Year for her performance with bat and ball during the summer. With Atharva Prasad monumental ton against Essex and regular half centuries in one-day fixtures saw the 17-year-old win the Men’s Youth Player of the Year.
