Role Purpose
The Head of Marketing & Brand is responsible for leading the organisation’s marketing, communications, and brand strategy for Middlesex County Cricket Club and Middlesex in the Community. This role ensures that the club’s reputation, profile, and commercial objectives are maximised through engaging storytelling, innovative marketing campaigns, and consistent brand positioning. The postholder will oversee all aspects of media relations, content creation, marketing campaigns, and digital platforms, ensuring alignment with the club’s vision, values, and long-term strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and deliver the club’s marketing and brand strategy, ensuring alignment with commercial, membership, and community objectives.
- Build and maintain a clear and consistent brand identity across all channels, communications, and campaigns.
- Lead the creation and implementation of the annual communications and content plan, ensuring a balance of proactive storytelling, fan engagement, and commercial priorities.
- Oversee the evolution of the club’s digital presence, ensuring its platforms remain best in class, engaging, relevant, and innovative.
- Use data to establish KPIs to measure campaign success and overall marketing ROI.
- Analyse marketing effectiveness and media coverage, providing regular insights to the Chief Growth Officer and CEO to inform future strategy.
Marketing & Commercial Campaigns
- Lead the planning and execution of all marketing campaigns to drive ticket sales, membership growth, retail performance, and digital engagement.
- Work with external media and agencies to secure cost-effective media buys, partnerships, and contra deals.
- Explore and implement new marketing opportunities to enhance diverse audience reach and commercial returns.
- Ensure creative assets are on-brand, engaging, and optimised for target audiences.
- Manage the relationship with the club’s retail and e-commerce partners, ensuring seamless customer experiences.
- Overhaul the club's approach to Retailing merchandise both online and at out grounds.
- Introduce marketing initiatives to showcase women’s cricket, community programs, and club-wide events
- Oversee the Player Kit Sponsorship Programme and other commercial marketing initiatives, maximising revenue.
Media & Communications
- Act as the club’s lead spokesperson and primary media contact, managing relationships with journalists, broadcasters, and external stakeholders.
- Ensure all press releases, media statements, and public communications are accurate, timely, and aligned with club messaging.
- Proactively generate positive PR opportunities, arranging interviews, media appearances, and feature coverage to enhance the club’s profile.
- Manage pre-season media events, press functions, and announcements, ensuring professional delivery and strong coverage.
- Oversee all matchday media operations, including accreditation, press requirements, interviews, and media centre management.
Digital & Content
- Lead the development of engaging content for the club’s website, social media, and digital channels, ensuring tone of voice and brand consistency.
- Supervise the Communications Executive in delivering high-quality content, including player interviews, video features, live match updates, and e-communications.
- Drive growth and engagement across all social media channels, incorporating both organic and paid-for activity.
- Ensure the club’s website remains accurate, dynamic, and commercially optimised, liaising with external providers on developments and enhancements.
- Oversee the club’s live streaming project, ensuring high-quality match coverage and excellent fan experience.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Manage, mentor, and develop the Communications and Marketing team, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and excellence.
- Work closely with the Chief Executive, Managing Director of Cricket, and senior leadership team on all sensitive and strategic communications.
- Liaise with players, coaches, and management to ensure consistent, professional communication with external stakeholders.
- Build strong working relationships with governing bodies, sponsors, media partners, and external agencies.

Person Specification
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven experience in a senior marketing, communications, or brand leadership role, ideally within sport, entertainment, or a consumer-facing organisation.
- Strong track record in developing and delivering integrated marketing and brand strategies.
- Excellent media relations skills, with existing networks across sports and national media desirable.
- Demonstrable success in driving audience engagement and growing brand presence across digital and traditional channels.
- Commercial acumen with experience of maximising revenue opportunities through marketing and sponsorship initiatives.
- Skilled in campaign planning, budget management, and performance analysis.
- Strong leadership and people management experience, with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
- A passionate advocate for sport and its role in the community.
- Excellent communicator with strong writing, editing, and presentation skills.
